Help Fight Climate Change

Post by Free Markets »

For those who believe that CO2 emissions are causing global warming, an exciting new way of fighting the problem has arrived. Do your bit and tie one on every night.

"For centuries, vodka has been made by fermenting grains like corn and wheat, a process that naturally results in carbon emissions. The Brooklyn-based startup Air Co. thinks it’s found a better way, distilling the spirit from nothing more than water and carbon dioxide, in a process that transforms the CO² into ethyl alcohol. Not only does Air Vodka (starting at $65 for 750 ml) do the trick in a Moscow mule, but it’s also carbon negative: for every bottle that’s produced, the company’s NASA-award-winning technology removes about a pound of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere."

Our climate is 100% determined by the sun and our position/relation to it. The utter notion that anything we meaningless ants do on a microdot hurtling through space at 76,00 mph actually has any effect on the climate is stultifying beyond words.

I’m always glad that most people are in charge of absolutely nothing whatsoever important which matters a whit or one iota to anything.

Everyone locally is out parading in the streets over swanky new electric buses... which are recharged daily 100% by 4 coal burning power plants west of the city. :))

Hook up some of these gizmos to the coal fired plants to provide CCS everyone can live with. A couple of quarts of vodka arrive with the monthly bill.

Would be just our luck if scientists came up with a scheme to deflect sunlight to cool the planet, then a few years into it, we hit a natural cooling cycle (thanks to the Sun) and plunged into an ice age which will be hundreds of times worse for the population of the earth than a tiny rise in sea levels. Once again, much ado about nothing. Or almost nothing.

The electric grid in most of the world is a lot cleaner and more efficient than most internal combustion engines. Think about it -- you've never heard of anybody suggesting a giant combustion engine for a power plant.

If I was a (successful) screenwriter I might pitch a scifi movie where the Earth is plunged into an ice age, and authorities scramble to pump as much CO2 as possible into the atmosphere.

Well despite the reduced emissions of 2020 and the economic slowdown, November 2020 was warmest on record at New York City and was fourth warmest at Toronto (stats just in). I won't go to the extreme of saying this disproves anything but I think many environmental cases were hoping our troubles would heal the planet. Still just as warm as ever.

But if the theories have any merit, it would probably take 30-50 years of gradual reductions after peak carbon before any small atmospheric response was noted.

I believe in the Sun's importance in these matters but steady state our greenhouse gas emissions would result in a warming, no argument about that. The big question is, what is the background variability against which our emissions are competing? My feeling is, we're in a long-term natural warming cycle too, the two things are reinforcing each other. If the Sun went really quiet for a few decades we might catch a break.

The very best vodka is made from potatoes. I regularly purchase Luksusowa which has no additives and is hangover-free.

I thought you Vikings drank Aquavit. Luksusowa may not leave a hangover but is it carbon negative? :)

I suspect most people on here have heard of Tony Heller. He has dozens of excellent videos on 'climate change,' including some educational videos on how CO2 works and that it is not responsible for warming of the planet. This is nothing more than a money grab and a way to control the population.

What I find utterly nuts is Bill Gates pouring millions (maybe billions) into tech that will help block out the Sun's rays to reducing global warming. OK... so eventually we are supposed to eat only synthetic meat and mostly plant-based foods. Plants require the Sun to grow, as well as CO2. And in exchange (besides food), plants, trees, etc., give us O2. Consequently, how is reducing CO2 and blocking the Sun (likely with chem trails and increase aluminum in the atmosphere) going to help mankind? And interesting Gates is buying up US farmland like it's going out of style... and he owns shares in Monsanto. Hmmm

Bill Gates is throwing his money around in so many different areas while being accountable to no one. He has a god complex, he treats the world like a game of Sim City or Civilization.

The climate has changed for millions of years. 20,000 years ago much of the entire continent was covered in ice called the Barnes Cap. Where did it go? It receded back to the Arctic as it had done before and will again.

Climate is entirely controlled but the Sun and the planets position to it. We’re witnessing, and are victims of, the largest left wing wealth transfer fraud in history.
